Job description

ORGANIZATION:

FoodCorps is a fast-moving new national nonprofit organization that seeks to combat childhood obesity while training the next generation of leaders in the fields of food, education and health. The centerpiece of our work is a national service program that recruits emerging leaders for a year of paid public service conducting nutrition education, building and tending school gardens, and sourcing farm-fresh food for school meals in limited-resource communities. Our first 50 service members, selected from more than 1,000 candidates, are in the field now.

FoodCorps is a dynamic start-up with strong potential for growth, working at the intersection of the most pressing issues of our time: childhood obesity, social justice, environmental sustainability, and the way we farm, eat and educate. The organization uses a model of national service that has helped programs like Teach for America, Habitat for Humanity and City Year become catalytic change-makers, leveraging federal funds to drive corporate and philanthropic investment in the public good. FoodCorps is led by a young team of social entrepreneurs with expertise, passion, and a commitment to having fun.
