The Vegetable Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the field and greenhouse production on the farm which includes vegetables, herbs and flowers. This position requires 60+ hours/week during the main production season from April–November and reduced hours during winter months.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Crop planning and all aspects of seed ordering and transplant production for 300+ member CSA program, retail farm-shop and wholesale customers.

Oversee and participate in all aspects of production including seeding, field prep, cultivation, weed and pest management, harvest and storage.

Hire, supervise, train and work alongside farm crew

Organic record keeping

Ordering supplies and materials.

Working with the Harvest Manager to timely harvest crops.

Use and maintenance of farm equipment including tractors, cultivators, seeders, transplanters, harrows, bed-shapers, etc.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm areas.

Be of good cheer and maintain a safe and positive work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

5 years vegetable farm management experience

Positive Mental Attitude.

Knowledge of soil management and health, diversified vegetable production, weed and pest management practices and cover cropping.

Ability to take initiative, solve problems and be a positive team leader in all circumstances.

Knowledge of organic practices and organic certification.

Valid drivers license
-
Able to lift at least 50 lbs. regularly
COMPENSATION:
This salaried position starts at $50,000, higher depending on experience.
