Job description

Story of PieLab

Founded in the Spring of 2009, through a partnership between the "Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organization, Inc." (HERO) and a design collective known as Project M, PieLab came to life as a combination pop-up cafe, design studio and civic clubhouse with the mission of: ' Pie + Ideas=Conversation. Conversation + Design = Social Change.'

By the Fall of 2009, PieLab grew into a permanent space on Greensboro, Alabama's Main Street. Visitors and locals now revere it, as they linger over pie and conversation.  PieLab uses locally grown fruit and produce in its innovative recipes.  Stop by for a full breakfast, lunch, savory pie or a slice of fresh baked sweet pie. Behind the scenes, Pie Lab also serves as a classroom to instruct local out-of-school youth on small business development and culinary arts, and as a community space to enjoy events. In addition, we have gotten a lot of regional and national attention from The New York Times Magazine, Southern Living, Garden and Gun, Tuscaloosa News and Birmingham News.
