Located on 120 acres of field and forest in Prairie Farm, WI, we specialize in growing over 40 varieties cut flowers. Though not certified, we use organic methods and do not use any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. The 2019 growing season will be our 4th year in production and we will be planting about 2 acres of annual cut flowers in addition to about an acre of perennials in our field and greenhouses. We sell to florists and designers in Western Wisconsin and the Twin Cities metro area and provide DIY "buckets of blooms" for weddings & events.Job description
We are looking for two part time employees (one to work April-October, one to work May-September). Both positions will work 25 hours/week Tuesday-Saturday. Employees will participate in every aspect of cut flower production including seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, bucket washing, etc. Some days are full of many varied jobs, while others are more monotonous. At times we will all work together as a team, and there will also be days where you will be working alone.Prior experience is a plus but not a requirement. Ideal candidates would have some experience working in a fast-paced, task oriented environment. Employees must be able to work outside in all weather environments and be able to lift 30+ lbs on a regular basis. You will be expected to come prepared with proper clothing (sturdy shoes, rain gear, etc) Employees must have their own reliable transportation to and from the farm.
We will have a 30 minute unpaid lunch break halfway through the 5 hour shift. We may prepare food for the crew some days, but in general employees will be expected to bring their own food. In addition to growing cut flowers for our business, we grow a lot of vegetables, herbs and fruit for our own consumption and often have extra which we will be happy to share with the crew.
Employees will be paid $12.00/hr and will have one paid vacation day throughout the season. Additionally, you'll be welcome to bring home extra fresh flowers from the farm anytime. We also have an ever growing collection of farm and flower-related books which employees are welcome to borrow.
