Co-founded in 2013 by farmer friends sharing a deep reverence for good food and good living, River Run Farm raises Certified Organic produce along the Dungeness River near Sequim, WA on the Olympic Peninsula. As we begin our seventh season, we continue to look to nature for inspiration in the development of our farming practices. With the help of a 3-4 person crew, we grow mixed vegetables on about 10 acres. We retail produce direct to our customers at farmers markets, and wholesale to regional grocers and restaurants.

Job description
The Assistant Manager will report to the Manager and assist in multiple aspects of farm management, including managing Field Crew members. The Assistant Manager will receive instruction from the Manager and will then lead Field Crew members in harvesting, washing and packing produce as well as hand cultivation and various other field tasks. This position is Full-time Seasonal (April-December.)
Previous commercial vegetable production experience and leadership experience is desired. Applicants should have a positive attitude towards hard work and readily display the ability to successfully engage with instruction and feedback. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills as a manager and a vegetable grower.
Multiple season opportunity exists, including expanded management roles. Housing options are available to qualified applicants.
Assistant Manager responsibilities will include:
-Receiving produce orders list from Manager / Tracking and filling orders
-directing/monitoring Field Crew, packing and labeling orders correctly
-Receiving instruction from Manager on crop location and specific harvest technique
-working with a field map / bed system
-building skill in evaluating crop readiness
- Leading Field Crew in harvest systems and techniques
-including tool and hand harvest methods, providing support and feedback
-Record keeping (planting, cultivation, harvest, etc.)
-maintaining organization of multiple record keeping logs
-Managing time and transitions efficiently; directing work flow, completing tasks lists
-Reporting to Manager in real time on progress of work, including updates and changes
-communicating effectively, utilizing text messaging and phone calls
-Coordinating flow of plants from propagation to field for transplanting
-organizing flow of plants and crew within task of mechanical transplanting
-coordinating with Tractor Operator
-Managing hand cultivation tasks list including hoeing, thinning and hand weeding
-directing/monitoring Field Crew, optimizing work
-Commitment to working Saturday Farmers Market (May-November), making produce deliveries
-valid drivers license and clean driving record are required
