Job description
Vermont Compost Company is looking to hire a full-time team member to help out various departments during our busiest time of the year. This opportunity is currently slated as a temporary position but has the potential to evolve into a permanent opportunity.
This position would be responsible for the care of our equines 5 days per week. Equine responsibilities would include feeding, watering, barn maintenance, care and treatment of any health issues and potentially some training/teamster opportunities.
Two of these 5 days they would also be responsible for chicken chores. In addition to these primary responsibilities, other time would be split between supporting our Fulfillment team and our Quality Assurance team, dependant on department needs.
This opportunity presents significant diversity throughout one’s day and a chance to engage in several different components of our operation. There will be days that require work amongst the chickens all day, days that require work outside, tying down 2-yard sling bags most of the day, and other days spent watering seedlings and recording temperatures of our compost windrows.
Previous equine experience is strongly preferred as that will be the daily priority for this position. Other growing and/or poultry experience would certainly be of benefit. Additionally, we hope to hire someone that is a self-starter, enjoys working out in the elements, can work independently and as a member of a team, and doesn’t mind the occasional weekend work.
Compensation
