Job description
We're looking for a dynamic, highly adaptable, culturally competent, and organized individual to fill the role of Community Engagement Coordinator. As a critical member of a small team, this position will carry out a variety of community engagement and relationship management work while also managing special projects and addressing any emerging needs that may arise on a daily basis, including providing back-up support for the TCMM team on the bus. Key duties include:
Engage and build relationships with community members to increase access to healthy food in targeted communities. Outreach to current and potential Mobile Market customers to increase awareness of and participation in the Twin Cities Mobile Market, engaging and supervising volunteers to assist in this work as needed. Participate, and, in some cases, plan and execute events that engage community members in providing input into the successful operation and expansion of the Mobile Market. Promote TCMM in the community and work to ensure that the program is responsive to community needs. Regularly develop content for TCMM’s social media channels and manage and monitor these sites daily.
Develop and manage positive relationships with current and potential host sites on an ongoing basis. Coordinate the development of new sites, including the development and implementation of marketing and communications plans and all associated materials; identify bus parking and other logisitcs; and manage the process from start to finish of launching new stops.
Monitor key TCMM metrics and create, lead, and implement marketing and outreach projects as needed to increase participation at TCMM sites, working collaboratively with TCMM staff, volunteers, and partner organizations. Lead and manage TCMM’s participation in community events that will positively promote the Mobile Market with customers.
As a key liaison between TCMM, organizational partners, and community members, make sure there is a continuous collaborative relationship among all parties. Participate in meetings and represent TCMM with key stakeholder groups such as the Metro Food Access Network, the St. Paul-Ramsey County Food and Nutrition Commission, Homegrown Minneapolis, Northside Fresh, and others.
Support the development of and coordinate nutrition education strategies, providing direct outreach and delivery of nutrition education as needed as well as supervising interns and volunteers.
Support program research and evaluation activities, coordinating with researchers and evaluators for work at specific stops.
Provide back-up support to Mobile Market team on the bus, filling in for staff when needed by assisting customers, bagging groceries, running the cash register, loading the bus, and other duties as needed.
Job qualifications:
HS diploma plus specialized training in the Human Services or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A valid Driver's License is required. In addition, we’re looking for the following qualities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer services skills to deal effectively with the public, staff and a variety of agencies and partners
- Strong project management and organization skills with previous project management experience
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions
- Experience in authentic community engagement and planning events for community members
- Ability to engage, develop and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders
- Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
- Must be highly flexible and able to work independently and within a diverse team and adapt communication style to a variety of audiences
- Ability to problem solve, manage time well and perform a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions
- Strong commitment to safety, quality control and customer satisfaction
- Ability to quickly adapt to the ever-changing operational needs
- Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office skills
