About the school: The Silverado Cooking School is an interactive cooking school geared towards the home cook, located on the Silverado Trail, just outside of Downtown Napa. Chef and Owner Malcolm de Sieyes lives at Stone Tree Farm in the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley, where he farms organically grown produce to construct fresh, seasonal, farm to table menus year-round. The produce he grows allows Chef Malcolm ultimate control over the ingredients he brings into Silverado's classes.The Silverado Cooking School offers a wide range of classes, including basic technique as well as more advanced classes and specialty regional cuisines for the cooking connoisseur. The School is available for special events, cooking parties and corporate team-building events.
Silverado Cooking School's students will learn in a new, state-of-the-art kitchen equipped with tools by Viking Commercial, Electrolux, All-Clad, Le Creuset, Moffat, John Boos Butcher Block, Shun and many more. We partner with some of the finest local purveyors, bringing the best ingredients into our kitchen to compliment the produce from Stone Tree Farm.

The Silverado Cooking School in Napa is seeking Culinary Assistants. This is a PART-TIME position with an employment opportunities open for qualified applicants. Recent culinary school graduates with prior restaurant experience are encouraged to apply.
Job description: Functioning as the Culinary Assistant, he/she will assist the chef in preparing for cooking classes, help the chef run and teach during the interactive cooking classes, and help the staff to breakdown, clean-up, and reset kitchen after classes. They will also help the chef before, during and after demonstration based classes, as needed.
Job duties:
- Prepare menus, recipes and packets for classes
- Gather and help dishwasher/prep cook prepare ingredients for classes
- Kitchen set up, including cooking stations and dining area
- Help interface between chef and students during busy classes
- During and after classes help to keep stations clean and bring dishes to dishwasher
- After classes help facilitate a smooth and thorough clean-up of the kitchen and help dishwasher/prep cook resetting the kitchen
- After class, help dishwasher put away clean items used during class, including buffing silverware and glasses
- After class help to reset kitchen and make ready for next class
- Help with harvest and transport of produce from the Silverado Cooking School's farm, Stone Tree Farm
*Each week's schedule is different so personal time-management and flexible schedule is a must!*
- Comprehends the fundamentals of cooking to the point where he/she can educate others comfortably
- Graduate of a professional culinary school is preferred, but not required
- High standards in cleanliness and sanitation
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail is a must!
- Proficient knife skills
- Able to show up to work consistently, reliable transportation.
- Good working knowledge of word processing and basic computer applications
- Excellent communication skills
- Situationally aware, being flexible and adapting to the needs of each week/class
- Must be able to spend long periods of time standing
- Must able to lift 50lbs
Pay for this position will start at $18-22 per hour depending on experience level plus tips!
