Job description

ABOUT LAZY CRAZY ACRES

Micro-creamery, intensively managed grazing farm making all natural gelato featuring ingredients from other local farms. The only "cow to cone" operation in NY. We also bottle creamline milk (low heat, non homogenized).

Our family has been farming this particular piece of land since the 1920’s and have been farming within a 15 minute drive for close to 200 years. Currently, Lazy Crazy Acres is home to lovely grass eatin’-mountainside wanderin’ heifers and a brand spankin’ new creamery situated right inside our historic barn!

POSITION OVERVIEW

Looking for the right folks to join our team as we expand. We are adding a faroest garden of berries this year and adding additional hens as well. The job will vary from dirty farm chores (livestock, milking, growing, haying, tractor work, etc) to creamery duties (baking, cooking berries, pasteurizing, ice cream mix making, bottling, pint packing, dishes, etc)

We have wholesale accounts and do 5 farm markets each week in our food truck which is essentially a sassy ice cream/sweets cafe on wheels. We use other farm vendor ingredients and bake items on site to go with our gelato.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Looking for creative, energetic couple who like to be part of a team and who also bring new ideas to the table.
  • Must have some ag experience - produce or livestock. Dairy would be a plus.
  • Must be able to take direction, work hard, laugh a lot and be cool with engaging with market customers as well.... or at least one of you must like going to markets.

If you are interested in starting your own herd and making a dairy product then we can work with you on that as well. Use of creamery and also ability to start growing your herd.

COMPENSATION

Includes housing, produce from garden, dairy, beef and small stipend.
