Position: Production Cook
Reports to: Chef de Cuisine/Kitchen Manager
Status: Non-exempt
Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or as assigned by Chef
Position Overview:
The Production Cook assists with production of contracted menu items as needed on any station or with any assigned task as needed in the kitchen. He will also assist with any other kitchen tasks, including but not limited to storing of food product, portioning, packing, and cleaning. The Production Cook is proficient in using a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils, including knives, slicers, and food processors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ability to follow direction and execute recipes with precision
- Practices precise, consistent knife skills
- Helps maintain the sanitation and purity of foods prepared using principles and guidelines of food safety management.
- Minimizes waste through efficient and correct use of product and equipment.
- Practices proper personal hygiene standards and safety regulations.
- Models professional behavior and demeanor.
- Packages prepared foods to fit customer’s need; verifies accurate portioning.
- Portions food product accurately and ensures proper labeling and temperature.
Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
- Certificate from culinary program or school, or 3 years’ experience in a kitchen, high volume production preferred
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager’s Certification required
- Strong verbal, written and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team; ability to work with culinary students as well as professional staff
- Organizational skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Act 33 & 34 Clearances
Wage Range: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour
