Company description

Myers Creamery is a small licensed goat dairy on Orcas Island in the state of Washington.  We make and sell our goat cheese products on the island exclusively serving restaurants  and food stores.  Our goats are family so we have a loving close relationship with our does and bucks.  We are looking for a qualified, experienced dairy person who will be responsible for milking and feeding the goats.  The ideal candidate would be able to follow strict procedures processing the milk, and comply with WSDA rules and regulations.  There is opportunity to make cheese as part of the job.  Orcas Island is accessible by air and the Washington State Ferry system.  We have a unique culture of farming on the island, and strongly promote conservation.  If you long for a peaceful agrarian life this may be an opportunity for you.  Starting pay is $20 per hour.

Job description

Dairy operator position includes the following:
  1. Milk 14 goats morning and evening followed by processing the milk for holding.
  2. Clean all stainless steel totes and milking machine.
  3. Clean stands, floors and walls after milking.
  4. Night time feeding hay and replace clean water for the goats.
  5. Refresh hay in loafing area at night.
  6. Lead the goats to browse after morning chores.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $25.00
