Job description
Our mission at Milk Bar is to make life a little sweeter, and we’re excited to be bringing that sweetness in a very real way to LA with our new flagship location in Melrose! This new location includes a 700 square foot classroom, where we’ll host baking and assembly classes of our iconic desserts. We are looking for a Classroom Teacher to lead this new experience in the LA market. This person will be responsible for consistently delivering an exceptional Milk Bar guest experience during all classes and keeping a pulse on what the LA marketplace responds to best. Along with being able to fulfill the responsibilities and skills requirements list below, we are looking for a team member who is a people person, believes in the value of hard work while also having fun and that success comes with a can-do attitude.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate weekly and monthly events and classes
- Plan new curriculum, prepare class mise-en-place, keep inventory, ensure set-up and breakdown of classroom, create organizational systems
- Conduct research and find resources to help make decisions about future event possibilities.
- Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
- Work closely with the customer service team, production team, sales team and press team
- Conduct student-teacher outreach
- Cleanliness and day-to-day maintenance of classroom space
- Create prep lists/schedules/daily priorities for all class assistants
- Teach all classes and special events
- Keep event calendars updated and staff informed
- Execute all aspects of the classroom experience to Milk Bar standards
- Full understanding of the Milk Bar ethos and ability to serve as a brand ambassador, both internally and externally, making people’s lives a little sweeter.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Previous pastry training including knowledge of proper baking techniques
- Knowledge of and comfort with baking techniques, equipment and tools
- Ability to build relationships and embrace change
- Efficient time management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Open schedule a must
