Uniquely situated on Oak Creek, in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon 8 miles north of Sedona, Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek Lodge is a place where magical moments happen.  Because of the remote, tranquil nature of our surroundings, our resort provides an opportunity for people to escape and relax in an environment surrounded by beautiful grounds, an orchard and garden. Our three-acre heirloom orchard preserves the tradition of Oak Creek apples, and our garden provides fresh vegetables, herbs and flowers for the farm-to-table restaurant. The orchard and garden are paramount to the guest experience. While not officially certified organic, we follow organic farming standards and practices. We are looking for the right person to be part of our Orchard and Garden team.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Orchard Manager with fruit tree pruning, irrigation, integrated pest management, fertilizing, fruit thinning, and harvesting. Process cider and market apples and cider jointly with Garden Manager at area Farmers Markets.
  • Assist Garden Manager to harvest produce for kitchen and special events. Greenhouse duties include seeding, transplanting, watering and fertilizing.
  • Help maintain irrigation ditch, farm tools and equipment. Help maintain a small flock of laying hens for kitchen.
  • Help mow, weed-whack and irrigate grounds weekly from April-October.
  • Help with volunteer garden work parties and provide information to guests about the orchard and garden.
  • Staff market fruit, produce and flowers at area farmer’s markets.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist, as needed, with Maintenance, Housekeeping, Kitchen, and Wait Staff duties.  You must welcome change and the challenges that follow.

Education/Experience

Required ● At least one season on a diversified vegetable and/or orchard operation.   ● High school or better.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15/hr +
