The key to the success and credibility of the organization has been Farmers Union’s grassroots structure in which policy positions are initiated locally. The policy process includes the presentation of resolutions by individuals, followed by possible adoption of the resolutions at the local, state and national levels. Members and staff of the Farmers Union advocate these policy positions nationwide.Job description
National Farmers Union is seeking a membership services coordinator at its Washington, DC, office.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
• Assist with the development and implementation of an annual strategic plan designed to increase membership and organizational capacity.• Create, maintain, and distribute Event Opportunity Calendar.
• Oversee the application, promotion, and use of NFU membership programs, including the Small States Assistance Program.
• Assist existing state divisions with membership activities.
• Promote NFU benefit programs and offerings.
• Conduct monthly telephonic meetings with state divisions’ membership staff.
• Assist with the identification of and outreach to potential state or national affiliate groups.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute promotional materials for NFU & smaller states.
• Assist with support related to the Hastings Mutual Insurance partnership.
• Attend membership events throughout the year, as needed.
• Attend chapter development meetings with states, as needed.
• Develop and implement new membership services and benefits in consultation with the VP of Operations and review existing offerings.
• Deliver relevant membership, policy, and educational presentations, addresses, and seminars at state and national conventions and other functions.
• Assist with the management of the Membership Department budget.
• Monitor and update information on the NFU website.
• Provide regular reports to VP of Operations detailing state level activity and progress of ongoing projects.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, political science, or related discipline or combination of college level coursework plus related work experience. Must be computer proficient. Experience with graphic design & HTML a plus. Membership development, marketing, and/or community or political organizing experience preferred.

COMPENSATION
Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Benefit package includes paid health, dental and vision insurances, paid vacation and holidays, and a generous 401k retirement plan.
Compensation
