Job description

10-15 hours per week

Position starts September 18th,  2017

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • TESOL certification // required
  • 2+  years teaching ESL - two unique levels of English // required
  • 5+ years food industry // required
  • 2+ years teaching adult learners // preferred
  • Computer know-how [word, excel, and basic website knowledge] // preferred
  • Spanish or French speaking proficiency // ideal

RESPONSIBILITIES

On-Site Teaching

  • Teach on-site at restaurants and food distribution centers  or other food-related sites
  • Set-up and break-down classroom at each teaching location
  • Deliver instruction consistent with the ESL Works “how we teach” vision
  • Develop students’ ability to read, write, speak, and listen in the appropriate content area
  • Create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment that supports positive outcomes
  • Manage learning time to maximize student achievement while respecting work schedules
  • Meet with students before or after class

Planning / Record-Keeping

  • Prep for all classes in advance of teaching
  • Adapt curriculum to differentiate instruction and meet needs of each student
  • Keep accurate records of attendance and student performance from week to week
  • Observe other regularly scheduled ESL Works classes from time to time

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15/hr +
