<strong>POSITION DESCRIPTION</strong><br /> Organization: National Farmers Union Foundation<br /> Location: Iowa (position involves statewide travel)<br /> Position: Resource Stewardship Outreach Specialist<br /> Reports To: Director of NFU Foundation Date: August 2017<br /><br /><strong>OVERVIEW</strong><br /> The Resource Stewardship Outreach Specialist (Outreach Specialist) will promote increased and more effective adoption of conservation practices among Iowa producers by introducing them to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Resource Stewardship Evaluation framework and the Resource Stewardship Evaluation Tool (RSET). RSET is a new tool and service that strengthens and modernizes conservation planning and helps farmers, ranchers and forest landowners better identify their conservation goals and improve their outcomes.<br /><br /> The Director supervises the Outreach Specialist; the Outreach Specialist will collaborate substantially with the President of Iowa Farmers Union and NRCS. The position is located in Iowa.<br /><br /><strong>PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES</strong><br /> <ul> <li> Learn about the Resource Stewardship Evaluation framework RSET with NRCS.</li> <li>Develop and implement an information and education plan to promote among Iowa producers (core presentation and best practices to connect with producers). Build producer contact lists and networks; connect with producer community leaders for effective dispersal of education plan. </li> <li>Record engagement and participation with producers on RSET to track metrics and make qualitative adjustments to education plan. </li> <li>Develop and execute an evaluation-based conservation recognition program for Iowa producers. </li> <li>Support Director in securing resources to make recognition program self-sustaining beyond 2020. </li> </ul> NOTE: The responsibilities listed are not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may include other duties as assigned.<br /><br /><strong>EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS</strong><br /> <ul> <li> Knowledge of Iowa farm communities and geography, including conservation issues. </li> <li>Ability to engage and maintain repertoire with producers; familiarity with crop and livestock production.</li> <li> Strong computer skills and capacity to learn. </li> <li>Organized and detail-oriented.</li> <li>Comfortable with public speaking.</li> <li>Event planning (RSET demonstrations, field days, recognition ceremony). </li> </ul>Compensation
