WE HATE TO BE BLUNT, but as time goes on we become more and more aware of this week's words of wisdom feature: You are a perishable item. Live accordingly.
There is no time like the present to figure out what and who you value, and spend your time and energy focusing on that. That might be working less - and spending more hours in your garden before the frost sets in. Or it might mean starting that project you've been telling yourself you'd do 'one of these days'. Or maybe it's setting aside an hour before bed every night to read a good book (actually Taylor did this the past week, reading a memoir of a woman exploring the very subject of this newsletter, called The Big Tiny). Sending a note to a friend. Making a pilgrimage to the place you've been longing to go. Quitting the job that isn't making you happy. Figuring out how to make a living with the work that does.
Whatever it is, get started. We can promise that the sooner you do, the more you'll be able to accomplish in this limited time we all have here on Earth.
Your companions,
Taylor & Dorothy
Co-Founders, Good Food Jobs
PS Speaking of the passing of time, here are some very special birthday wishes to my favorite back-to-back birthday buddies - Bonnie (today the 26th) and Dorothy (tomorrow the 27th!) We like it when there is DOUBLE the reason to eat cake. xo Tay

details / The #gogastrognomes journey is our biggest and best instagram contest yet. For the past four years, the gastrognomes have been profiling inspiring and unlikely food professionals on our blog. Although the blog has been an integral part of connecting the Good Food Jobs community, the gnomes are always struggling with the question of how to connect to more people, both in person all around the world. As we all know, it’s easy to get stuck behind a computer screen... So the gnomes have decided its time to head out on the open road to meet the people that have contributed to the blog, and hopefully see some new, inspiring people and places. And they need your help to get there. Click here to learn more.
We announced the contest last week and the gnomes have already been to North Carolina, Oregon, and Ecuador. See where the gnomes will wind up next (we hear that they might make an appearance at Burning Man).
And if you're looking for inspiration, check out our recently uploaded gnome Bucket List. They are looking for food adventures all over this great nation.
prize / A first, second and third prize will be given out based on creativity, effort, artistry and crowd response. To learn more, visit goodfoodjobs.com/gnomes.
deadline / TBD. The contest will be ongoing through the Fall, so keep your eyes peeled for gnomes and join the fun!
