WORLD DOMINATION . . . starts with newsletter domination, we suppose.
Those of you who read the newsletter religiously may remember that Taylor won a ticket to the World Domination Summit last year. In our effort to pay our good fortune forward, we're giving away TWO tickets to this year's WDS.
We know you have a lot of questions, so we'll do our best to answer them.
WHAT THE HECK IS THE WORLD DOMINATION SUMMIT?
We know, the name is kind of intense. We don't think it fully captures what the event is all about. If you value Community, Adventure, and Service, then you want to be there. Three thousand people will gather in Portland, OR this July for a TED-style conference to answer the question, 'How do we live a remarkable like in a conventional world?
If you are a visual person, take a few minutes to watch the video recap of last year's event.
WHY ARE YOU GIVING AWAY FREE TICKETS?
Taylor won her ticket last year, so we thought it would be fun to share the experience with two new people this year.
Here are just a few of the highlights of the WDS experience (more to come next week):
- Taylor went to Portland, OR for the first time, getting to enjoy a new city / food mecca. Highlights included riding her rented bike home under the full moon, after days packed with events and adventure.
- She had real conversations with 107 new people, many of whom she has kept in touch with / followed over the course of the year. An example is Blake Boles, whose Unschool Adventures and self-directed learning continue to teach us that there is more than one way to do things (we also appreciate his newsletters, which always have links to other great reads).
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO ENTER?
Just click here and follow the prompts. All it takes is your name and email to enter.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO WIN?
Now this is where it gets interesting. Anyone technically can win, but if you want to increase your odds of winning, you have to share. Here's how it works:
Your name + Email = 1 entry
A friend's email = 4 additional entries
3 friends' emails = 8 bonus entries
Anyone that enters via your social shares / link = 10 additional entries per signup
Some fine print:
- We do NOT - under any circumstances - rent / sell / share / use the email addresses entered in the contest for anything other than the contest (i.e. to send word about the winners).
- We do not recommend spamming people. The most effective way to master the contest is to share it with people that you think might be interested in / benefit from WDS. This requires you to think, and to care, and to genuinely share. But if you do, you will be rewarded.
WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR REGULAR 'WORDS OF WIDSOM' FEATURE?
Dorothy came across Gretchen Rubin's book, The Happiness Project, after seeing her speak at WDS 2013 (her latest book on habit formation, Better Than Before, is on our can't-wait-to-read list). Her work is remarkably simple and eye opening, and we admire her talents for research and reflection. As the contest will be underway for the next four weeks, we thought it would be fun to let Gretchen's Secrets of Adulthood take over our Words of Wisdom for the month. We are psyched that she allowed us to borrow them, and we hope you'll enjoy the fresh look and fresh ideas. Although they deviate from our regular style (artwork done by the endlessly talented Kathryn Hansis), they pack just as much meaning. A big thank you to Gretchen for sharing these gems with us.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN STORE FOR NEXT WEEK?
There's plenty more to come! Stay tuned to more highlights from our WDS adventures and feel free to check out a more thorough recap of the contest at:
