Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
GFJ re-inspires my work as I bear witness to all the other folks that are charging forward in their respective ways to create wellness in the greater good.

It's that time of year again. The holidays are fast approaching. For some folks this means a welcome escape, some time off, and an excuse to relax. While we are in full support of these things (especially when it involves gathering around a table and enjoying good food and great conversation together), we also advocate for making the most of the holiday season, and that means taking advantages of opportunities that only present themselves during this busy time of year.
We know that most folks cruising GFJ are looking for full-time employment, and the thought of taking a part-time position means you are taking yourself off the market for a set period of time. But we highly encourage you to keep your options open (see below for the highlighted jobs of the week that are seasonal and/or temporary opportunities). As we've said in the past, the busy holiday season leads food businesses to open up opportunities that would otherwise not be available. Rather than considering this short-term employment as risky, view it as a long-term interview - a chance to prove your skills and/or gain meaningful experience that you can speak to in your next interview.
We try to practice what we preach. Check out Dorothy's latest extracurricular endeavor - an article that she wrote about Andrew Feinberg of Franny's restaurant in Brooklyn for Kindling Quarterly.
Here's to the part-time gigs, seasonal positions, freelance jobs, and side gigs that help round out our experiences, introduce us to new people and ideas, and help make us more adventurous gastrognomes.
In the meantime . . .
GFJ OCTOBER INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE
Some of us may forget that the first holiday of the season is Halloween. Even though it doesn't often necessitate extra employment opportunities, we're sweetening the deal with this month's GFJ Instagram Challenge. We encourage you to jump in.
Snap your hand made creations (caramel apples, hand pies, homemade kit kats? Get creative) and tag your photos with #GFJsugarhigh. The winner with the most likes as of 8 AM on Tuesday, October 29th gets The Cult Classic box of goodies from Liddabit Sweets.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

'Natural' is the word we'd use to describe Duron's career evolution. His work unfolded directly from his passion, which is a goal so many of us strive for on a daily basis. What we noticed about Duron's story is that it was his ability to listen and learn that provided a stepping stone to creating his own good food job. That's a lesson we all could use a reminder of, every now and again. Read More
