SHOUT OUT TO GFJ
Shizue Roche-Adachi mentioned GFJ in a recent interview for Heritage Radio Network's Summer of Food Series. Check it out (we're mentioned around minute 32).
One of the best resources is Good Food Jobs. That's where my friends and I go to feel sane.

We love working in food for a lot of reasons, but one of our favorites is that it is so easy to make friends. You have the perfect excuse - whether foraging for food together, catching up on a long line at the market, preparing and enjoying a meal, or sharing skills in the kitchen or garden. It's these shared experiences - and these connections - that are the most fruitful in the job search and the business building process.
Today we're reminded of old friends - like Annie Myers. Taylor met Annie in NYC a few years ago when they both worked a different day shift at Dickson's Farmstand Meats (Taylor was working on getting Good Food Jobs up and running, and Annie had a full-time gig as the Forager at The Spotted Pig). (PSSST! If you want to see for yourself where a job at Dickson's could take you, check out their latest job openings: Junior Charcutier & Sausage Maker, Head Butcher, and Butchering Intern)
Life took us both on some unexpected journeys and we both serendipitously wound up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont only 9 months after meeting. When we caught up with Annie this weekend she shared news of her upcoming regional produce distribution company - Myer's Produce - set to launch in November this year.
We remember back in 2010 when Annie would talk about the desire to work in the field of distribution, bringing more great farm fare to market. We're excited to see it come to fruition. Could we have predicted where we would be now? Not necessarily. So it's great to have that initial connection, foster the relationship, and continue to support each other.
And we are continually building the network. Our latest food friends from southern Vermont just led us on a mushroom hunting journey last week, as evidenced by the Instagram shots below (follow us @goodfoodjobs):
We're endlessly amazed at the good that comes from bringing people together over a love of food. We hope that the spirit moves you, and that you'll make a food friend this week. You never know what may come of the relationship, of what you can accomplish together, and of what great things you will be celebrating a few years down the road.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Many of us who dream of being a writer will understand Mandy's predicament when a book deal fell into her as-yet-unpublished lap. The combination of dream-come-true excitement and worst-nightmare terror can be paralyzing. Thankfully, she found the courage to listen more closely to the dream than the nightmare, and we can't help but be in awe of the results. Read More
