NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
I found my first job in NYC through your site, and I'll be forever thankful for that foot in the door.
- Katie, GFJ Success Story
I am proof that following and expressing your passion, and staying involved / connected can lead to great things. For the first time ever I can say that I love my job and am thrilled to be learning every day and striving to do the best that I can.

The start of 2014 brought a lot of forward momentum. While we are still riding the high and squeezing every last ounce of productivity into that 'new year' feeling, we are catching up with some of our old routines as well.
We are confident we've identified all of the kinks with our recently published site re-design. We are in the throes of fixing them (which, we hope, will take us no more than another 2 weeks), which means that we can now devote our attention toward new projects and developments for the coming year.
As we put together our wish list (bulk discounts for job posters, more in-person meetups, and another redesign - this time of the newsletter itself - to name a few), we're always curious to know what's on YOUR wishlist for GFJ.
Speaking of old routines, we're excited to announce our first Instagram challenge of 2014 (bet you thought we forgot about those, huh?). Read on for all the details on how to enter and WIN!
January GFJ Instagram Challenge
The cold weather might mean less time in the great outdoors, but we always welcome the chance to curl up by the fire with a good book. The only thing better than reading a book is sharing it with someone else, so: what are you reading these days? Tag your photo with #GFJreadinglist and the entry with the most likes circa 8am on Tuesday February 4th gets a copy of two of our favorites - Full Moon Feast: Food and the Hunger for Connection (Taylor's old favorite) and Yes, Chef: A Memoir by Marcus Samuelsson (Dorothy's latest obsession).
Happy reading,
Taylor & Dorothy

Co-Founder and Instructor
San Francisco Cooking School
There is much discussion of attending cooking school - its benefits and drawbacks, its prestige, etc. - but it's not so often that you actually meet someone who founded one. Jodi got hooked on the idea of teaching people how to cook, and she managed to build that passion into an entire institution dedicated to the culinary arts. And it's all happening in San Francisco, one of the greatest cities - not just for food, but for many other things, on the continent. Read More
