Good Food Jobs is a job search tool designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
GFJ INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE
To celebrate our involvement in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's American History Food Project Kitchen Cabinet, we're asking, what's in your kitchen cabinet? Snap a shot and tag it with #GFJkitchencabinet. The entry with the most likes circa 8 AM Tuesday July 8th gets a boost to their arsenal: the Franny's Favorites gift box from BKLYN Larder.

We're in the design phase for some new initiatives. Await word in the next week or two. We're excited for this summer of fun.
Do you have a recommendation? Constructive criticism? Or have you noticed a glitch? Let us know. And stay tuned for more updates. We're always scheming.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
Thanks for another shot of encouragement and positivity. I think that’s the thing I value most; while I don’t need to hire anyone, and I’m not looking for a job (at least, I shouldn’t be), the way you think and write about, and the light you shine on, this whole food movement we’re a part of is just as important to me.

We can appreciate many things about the upcoming American Independence Day, July 4th. There are treasured food traditions (think backyard barbecues or beach-based clambakes), community gatherings to gaze at the sky (be it for fireworks or - our preference - fireflies), and parades (there's something about the forward momentum of a procession that we really enjoy).
But let's not forget the origin of the holiday: Independence. While the world and the nation in which we live are far from perfect places, we're thankful for the opportunity to live in place where we are granted our fundamental freedom.
Even more, we're grateful for the GFJ community, where we feel surrounded by a whole host of folks that take the meaning of freedom to a new level. Our culture may set forth specific ideas and ideals - such as what constitutes a 'real job' - but we love that our users are open and honest, with others and themselves, about how to break from cultural expectations and make a living in a way that holds meaning for them.
Taylor's excited to traverse across our great nation to the World Domination Summit in Portland, OR next week, to interact with a new community of folks that are also exercising the art of non-conformity, both in the food world and outside of it. Stay tuned to continued coverage on who she meets, what she learns, and how you can join the movement, if you haven't taken the plunge already.
And we hope that this year, regardless of your politics or profession, you honor Independence Day, and take one small step toward making the world a better place for you and your community.
Happy 4th.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

WORDS OF WIDSOM
We're exercising our freedom to use a curse word (for emphasis, where appropriate). Pardon our French, but sometimes it's true, you just need to 'F' Perfection. The artist of the always incredible Words of Wisdom - Miss Kathryn Hansis - sent us this one as a 'bonus' intended for our own pleasure, but we found it so spot on, we had to share it with you.

Growing Cities
Much as we love being outside, with our hands and/or toes in the dirt, we must admit: we love a good flick. Curling up on the couch with popcorn or a pint of ice cream is one of life’s great pleasures, and we are continually inspired by the many food-related films made by people like Dan, and his partner in crime, Andrew. You can help them spread Growing Cities, their documentary that shares the stories of urban farmers, to millions of people via PBS! Donate on their Kickstarter page. Read More
