A JUG FILLS DROP BY DROP . . .
In our image-obsessed culture, it seems as though everything appears with instant gratification. Picture perfect, first time, every time. That makes it all the harder when we plug away at something - little by little - watching small bits of progress build up over time.
This is your friendly, weekly reminder to find beauty and pleasure in the process. When your muscles are sore, you have scrapes / bumps / bruises / burns, you mess up three times before you get it right, or when it takes you 3 hours to do something that might take someone else 30 minutes - this is the good stuff. It makes the prospect of your full jug that much more rewarding.
The world is moving at an ever faster pace, and it can trick us into not engaging at all for fear we can't compete - but take it slow and steady, and admire the progress that you have made over time.
Speaking of slow and steady, the calendar is marching on toward summer and we're offering a free ticket to the UVM Food Systems Summit in Burlington, VT this June. Our blog interview with Paul Feenan (see more below) should whet your appetite for the amazing lineup of speakers that will be coming to UVM this year. Stay tuned for all the details next Tuesday.
