IT'S ALL ABOUT INTRODUCTIONS
As entrepreneurs, we're blessed - for our job is to share with you the stories of people that are doing incredible work in the world of food (however loose that definition may be). They are people that inspire us, get us thinking, and help move us all closer to a better food culture, one small step at a time.
Today we have a few to highlight. We hope you find them of interest, and help us spread the word about what they're up to.
GET SERIOUS
Highfields Center for Composting in Hardwick, VT is raising money to kickstart their Compost Heat Recovery project. It's worth a visit to hear how they plan to make the most of the funds, creating compost heat recovery systems that will not only reduce their own dependency on fossil fuels to run their operation, but can be implemented by growers and households everywhere to do the same.
In the evolution of a food professional, first you get hooked on good tasting food, then making it, then growing it, and then understanding the basis for nourishing all life: the soil. That's what this is all about. Bringing it full circle.
Check it out.
HAVE FUN WITH IT
And at the lighter end of the spectrum, we've got Sweet Stem Farm making a parody of Adele's 'Rolling in The Deep', constructing its lyrics around the farm's motto: 'Eating Cheek to Cheek'.
We love when folks get creative, and this certainly fits the bill.
Sing along.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Jason Cortlund
Writer & Co-Director
Now, Forager
We're big fans of unexpected combinations, and that includes mushrooms and movies. The cool breezes and colorful leaves of autumn signal so many great food-lovers' delights: apple picking, pumpkin picking, festive holiday meals...and for those of us who tired of the endless summer blockbuster (and its sequels): great films. Jason Cortlund doesn't have a full-time food job, but his thoughts on creating a film about food, together with co-director and producer Julia Halperin, are compelling enough to make you want to reserve your seats. Now, Forager opens at the IFC Center on October 3, 2012. Read More
