Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

These September weeks are historically our favorite of the year, and in 2011 it is no exception. We hope that the big bright Harvest Moon is bringing you good fortune - or at the very least you are taking a moment or two to peek out of your window at night and admire the beauty.
Whether you are using the extra light to pick crops into the evening, or accent your evening stroll, soak it up. The glow of the moon is far more powerful than that of your television or your computer.
And if you're wondering about that special project we mentioned last week, don't worry - we haven't forgotten...it's just taking a little longer than expected. We're using it as a reminder to practice patience, with ourselves and with our to-do lists, in a world that can be, admittedly, just a little too speedy at times.

Kate Barney
F.A.R.M.S. Apprentice
Blue Hill at Stone Barns
While Kate unfortunately falls under the category of another gastrognome we have yet to meet in person, we know she's a kindred spirit because of her passion for Blue Hill and the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, a place that embodies the values of sustainability and food culture and translates them beautifully through education and service. She was among the first to fill their coveted, and relatively new, apprenticeship program, and you won't be alone in feeling jealous. But don't let yourself turn green with envy - fill out your own application for the next round of hiring! Read More
