Company description Westridge Farm grows certified organic vegetables for CSA and year round farmers market in Blue river, WI. We grow a diversified mix of vegetables, storage crops, year round hoop house greens, micro greens and 200 pastured laying hens. The farm is 2 acres of intensive vegetable production. Job description Westridge farm is a growing organic vegetable operation looking for 2 motivated full-time crew members to join us in 2020! We are seeking enthusiastic crew hands to work at a steady pace through all weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude. Field crew will be involved in all aspects of our small farm and expected to work with a crew of 2-4. We use intensive farming methods and extensively use hand tools for raking, weeding, planting and harvesting. Full time hours are Monday through Friday 8-5 with a one hour lunch break.

Work Description 

• Hand harvesting/picking/bunching
• Washing/packing
• Greenhouse seeding/pruning/trellising
• Hand transplanting
• Hand weeding/hoe/rake/broadfork
• Spreading fertilizer/compost
• Bed prep
• Microgreen production
• Egg washing/packing/collecting
• 75% or more of the week is spent harvesting and washing

Qualifications

• 1 year experience working for a vegetable farm, landscaping or greenhouse business preferred but will train someone with a strong desire to learn organic vegetable farming.
• Must be physically fit to bend, kneel, crawl and walk entire day.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Have reliable transportation
• Able to work hard in all weather conditions with a positive attitude
• Able to follow instructions and pays attention to details
• Must be able to work fast while maintaining high quality standards

Compensation

• $12-$15 depending on qualifications and skills.
• Weekly vegetables
• Monday through Friday, 8-5, with one hour lunch break
• April to November (winter work may be possible)
