Earth Sky Time is a creative community of farmers, cooks, bakers, artists, musicians and friends on a 200 acre farm in the foothills of southern Vermont. We grow certified organic vegetables, and operate a wood-fired bakery, commercial kitchen, farm-store and café. We also strive to create art, and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings! 

Along with our Kitchen Magician position, we offer farming, baking, construction, and barista/shopkeeper opportunities - these all provide hands-on training and meaningful responsibilities, in a supportive, funky community.

About our Vegetarian Commercial Kitchen!

Our pantries and storage look like your favorite food co-op, always stocked with organic legumes, grains, flour, seeds/nuts, dried fruit, spices, and all cooking & baking essentials!!  We have all the commercial kitchen equipment you could hope for, along with an amazing wood-fired Llopis oven that we do all of our baking and roasting in!

If you've worked on a farm, you know there's a lot of unmarketable produce.  Our kitchen was created to put ALL of our bounty to good use, even the seconds - turning it into beautiful meals for ourselves and the surrounding community, and preserving it for the winter months.

The glamorous (and not so glamorous) week of a Kitchen Magician…..:

Kitchen magicians will work with our Kitchen Manager + Chef, who will guide you, teaching and collaborating to produce our tried-and-true recipes, as well as your own creative endeavors!

Tasks include: cooking crew lunches, prepping for farm-night dinner, making hoomoos, baking veggie-burgers, prepping garlic for a giant batch of pesto, organizing the fridges and pantries, and cleaning-up after kitchen projects.  This is a collaborative kitchen environment, which means all kitchen staff participate all parts of the cooking process - we all prep, chop, help assemble dishes, taste, and clean up!

Previous professional kitchen experience not required!

“What is required?” You ask! - A passion for food, willingness to learn, the ability to sustain a physically demanding and often fast-paced workday, a positive attitude, and the desire to participate in the awesome community here!

Our Products:

We produce value-added items: VT Goldburgers (veggie burgers), Hoomoos Za’atar (hummus), garlic-scape pesto and more.  We also cater local events & retreats, prep pizza and salads for our on-farm summer concert series, and cook weekly Farm Night dinners (vegetarian farm to table feasts with live music and raucous dance parties).  We also race-the-clock (or so it feels) every summer to preserve as much or our amazing produce as we possibly can, through canning, freezing and lactic ferments, such as sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, and salsa.  

The Nitty-gritty:

Our internships all provide modest stipends, comfortable on farm accommodations, and bountiful vegetarian food.  You will also have use of our ceramic, woodworking, metalworking, and music studios, along with access to our on-farm pond & private hiking trails.
