Job description

Saxelby Cheesemongers is looking for a fun, energetic, outgoing individual to manage our Essex Street Market shop. Previous experience managing a dynamic retail environment (especially one where working with cheese) is a plus. Applicants must be extremely detail-oriented, good at multi-tasking, and most of all, must love people and the fine art of selling cheese!

This position is full time, and involves 4 days per week behind the counter at our Essex Market location, as well as one day per week at our wholesale facility in Red Hook. Responsibilities include: opening and closing the shop, overseeing day to day operations, managing daily cash, interacting with retail customers and chefs, cutting and wrapping cheeses, preparing wholesale orders for pickup, stocking and organizing inventory, ordering cheeses, as well as some light administrative work. Applicants should be prepared to commit at least one year to the position.
