Internship Overview The Edible Schoolyard Project (ESYP) is offering an unpaid internship to students or recent graduates wishing to gain experience in a stimulating and fast-paced work environment. The Online Program Intern (OPI) is responsible for providing support to the Online Program Manager. The OPI supports the online programmatic efforts of ESYP by assisting with external and internal content generation and supporting the online community at edibleschoolyard.org.
About the Edible Schoolyard Project The Edible Schoolyard Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Alice Waters. The mission of ESYP is to build and share a national food curriculum for the education system. We envision this “edible education,” like physical education, as part of the core curriculum of every school in the country. By providing all students with a free nutritious lunch and interactive experiences in kitchen and garden classrooms, edible education has the power to transform the health and values of every child in the United States.
Primary Responsibilities Website Content
ESYP Generated Content (Internal)
- Assist in uploading new content from ESYP and Founding Edible Schoolyard programs
- Assist in creating and sending monthly ESYP newsletters on behalf of ESYP and Founding ESY’s
User Generated Content (External)
- Assist new members with uploading and formatting best practices by providing step-by-step instructions for registration and user-generated activities
- Assist in uploading content to ESYP blog and coordinating blog postings by site members and guest writers
- Assist in responding to questions sent via "contact us"
Social Media
- Assist in building activity on Facebook and Twitter accounts through daily postings on various topics on behalf of ESYP and Founding ESY’s
- Assist in building Vimeo presence through posting internally generated videos and tagging like-minded programs’ videos, engaging with other Vimeo members
Qualifications
- Experience working with websites and online media
- Experience with Drupal, Constituent Relationship Management software (CiviCRM preferred) and general web tech support skills
- Solid understanding of and experience with all social media channels
- Experience in content generation
- Excellent writing skills required
- Very strong organization skills required
- Customer relations experience a plus
- Campaign or advocacy experiences a plus
- Creative and flexible mindset
Compensation & Duration
- Unpaid internship, Chez Panisse lunch provided
- Hours are part-time, 2-3 days per week (M-F), for 12 weeks, beginning January 16, 2012
