The company currently has 7 stores and 6 trucks in NYC and LA and sells packaged pints to Wholefoods Market and other stores in the tri-state area. Van Leeuwen's ice cream is made exclusively at the Williamsburg Factory.Van Leeuwen is owned and operated by founders Ben Van Leeuwen, Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O'Neill. The team started out in 2008 with a single scoop truck and remain passionate and very hands on to this day.

Job description

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream is hiring for a head production manager position in our Williamsburg, Brooklyn ice cream factory. 

You will be managing three core operations in the production process; pasteurization, add ins (cakes, cookies, swirls) in the pastry kitchen, and freezing of the pasteurized mix with add ins. We produce all bases and add ins in house that go into our ice cream which we freeze and distribute daily for our retail stores and trucks in NYC and LA. Additionally we supply a rapidly growing wholesale business. You will be in charge of monitoring inventory of raw ingredients and finished product. It will be your responsibility to schedule all production runs, and place orders for all ingredients, many of which are custom products and or imported, thus making tight inventory controls essential. 

You will work directly with executive chef and co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen on menu development and in conjunction with our head pastry chef. 

Candidates should be upbeat, thrive in a busy environment and have the ability to lead and inspire the team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years experience managing a high volume production commissary or small factory. Candidates should be goal oriented, able to successful manage stress, be pro-active in problem solving and efficiency minded. This position requires administrative responsibilities as well as hands on production work on the floor and in the bakery.
