America’s Test Kitchen 

WHO WE ARE
America’s Test Kitchen is a real place: a no-nonsense, fully equipped test kitchen located in Brookline, Massachusetts, where a team of highly qualified test cooks and editors perform thousands of tests every year. The goal? To develop the best recipes and cooking techniques, recommend the best cookware and equipment, and rate brand-name pantry staples for home cooks, which are published in our two magazines, Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country, in our growing line of cookbooks and special interest magazines, and on our websites, as well as featured on our public television series, America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen. We are devoted to a collegial approach to cooking—teams of editors, writers, and cooks engage in side-by-side comparisons, blind taste tests, and rigorous equipment tests to determine which is the best way to roast a chicken, which pans work and which ones don’t, which brand of ketchup tastes best, and so on. Our publications contain no advertising. We are a private company with no affiliations with large publishers, cookware manufacturers, or food purveyors, which means that our content is unbiased and objective.  

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Sr. Kitchen Assistant Our busy test kitchen is looking for a Senior Kitchen Assistant to report to our Test Kitchen Manager. The successful candidate is a highly motivated self-starter. As part of the Kitchen Operations team, this person will be a member of a nine-member team, and the primary team member to shop and place daily orders for the test kitchen.  The hours for this position are currently designed as 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Summer hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM to noon. Hours are subject to variation depending on business needs. A reliable car along with appropriate insurance and a valid driver’s license is required as is a cell phone. Hourly rate of pay = $15.00/hour 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Shop and place grocery orders daily
• Maintaining and improving storage systems
• Manage multiple vendor relationships
• Code and input for monthly budgets
• Assist with research, product testing, and evaluation of products
• Support special events and projects
• Help coordinate intern support for operations tasks

 SKILLS YOU WILL NEED:

• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) on a regular basis
• Proficiency in Google Drive and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
• Exceptional food knowledge - both retail and wholesale
• Excellent communication, organizational and detail-orientation skills
• Geographic familiarity with Brookline/Boston area is a plus
• Flexibility during peak periods and ability to work evening events (with advance notice)

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD HAVE:

• Valid Driver’s license
• Accredited culinary degree (or equivalent) preferred
• 1 to 2 years culinary experience desired
