Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organized Farm Manager to oversee production at our 12 acre Luscher Farm site where we raise organic vegetables year round. The Farm Manager will also lead, teach, and inspire, our 8-10 person Portland based farm crew by working actively alongside them through all day-to-day operations at the Farm.

Experience managing all aspects of organic vegetable production and motivating a diverse crew doing hard physical labor are both extremely important skills for the Farm Manager job. The Farm Manager must be willing and able to work hard and communicate effectively, in order to help the farm and our diverse crew reach their full potential. Attention to detail is also important, as the Farm Manager will supervise all of the record keeping on the farm. A sense of humor comes in handy too! Also on our wish list of skills that the ideal Farm Manager would bring to the job is fluency in Spanish and familiarity with Mac, Excel, and Filemaker Pro.

Much of the work on our farm is done by hand. This requires physical strength and stamina. During the summer the Farm Manager can expect a 50-hour work week including monthly Saturday work parties, and occasional fieldtrips. Winter hours are less.
