Job Description ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

Slow Money NYC is a grassroots networking organization catalyzing increased investing in sustainable food and farm business in the NYC foodshed.

Slow Money NYC
is a start-up non-profit corporation, formed in 2010 as a Meetup Group, growing into a network for 1000+ Members with regular networking events; an annual summit, Food + Enterprise; and catalyzing roughly $6 million in investments through supported projects.

Slow Money NYC creates synergy amongst the following movements: (1) Impact Investment, (2) Environmental Sustainability, (3) Good Food and (4) Economic Localization.  We engage in the following activities to “bring money back down to earth”:
  • Inspire & Educate anyone aligned with our mission through regular events, conferences and entrepreneur showcases.
  • Connect & Network through structured interactions and scaffolding relationships between entrepreneurs, consultants and investors.

NETWORK COORDINATOR
will work under the Director and help organize diverse affairs of Slow Money NYC and its Board.
DUTIES of Coordinator shall include the following:
    • Fiscal Management: Oversee accounts, pay bills, prepare financial reports and coordinate efforts with Tax Preparer and Bookkeeper
  • Files and Database Management
  • Board Administration: Schedule meetings, send invites and take minutes.
  • Event Management: Assist in planning and production of events.
  • Communications: Maintain and regularly update Blog, Meetup.com, Email Newsletter, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Fundraising: Assist with fundraising including soliciting and maintain donor names, lists and deliverables on Insightly CRM.
  • Partner and Public Relations: Maintain and grow relationships with partner organizations and media outlets, tracking contacts on Insightly CRM.
  • Public Presentation - Act as ambassador for Slow Money NYC in public forums.
  • Coordination with Slow Money Networks and Institute – Maintain Compliance Brand Guidelines.  Communicate with Slow Money Networks.
  • Coordination with Slow Money NYC Projects – Communicate with FoodandEnterprise.com, Foodshed Investors NY, North East Foodshed Finance Alliance (NEFFA) and Local Farms Fund.
  • Grant Writing and Research
  • Evaluation - Assist in creating surveys and evaluations plans and tools gauging effectiveness of our work
  • Innovative Ideas to help Slow Money NYC become more effective and impactful

QUALITIES possessed by an ideal candidate for Coordinator are as follows:
  • Excellent organizational skills, keeping on time and task
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Fast and flexible learner capable of handling shifting demands / environment
  • Capable of working equally effectively independently and/or in collaboration
  • Facility with tech tools including some or all of the following platforms: CRM, Project Management, Wordpress and various social media tools.
  • Commitment to improving the environment, economy and/or food system
  • Strong affinity to and understanding of one or all of the following areas of interest:
    • Impact Investing and Financial Models
    • Environmentalism or Sustainability
    • Food Politics
    • Economic Localization

COMPENSATION: Contract for $15.00 per hour with guaranteed 10 hours per week for the next 6 months. Raises available for exemplary performance.  Slow Money NYC may elect to convert position into a salaried employee after probationary period.
