About Foodstand and PurposeFoodstand is a quickly growing digital community for anyone who cares about supporting a better food system. We’ve launched a beta version of our mobile app that allows eaters, makers, and growers to share and discover good food from like-minded folks. We have an extremely active and growing audience and have a quickly established ourselves as the hub of good food through our events, community activities, and partnerships. The Foodstand app was incubated by Purpose, the movement-building agency in NYC that has launched several movement organizations and initiatives to tackle issues of social change such as gun violence, LGBT rights, human trafficking, and climate change. The Foodstand venture is Purpose’s effort in mobilizing consumers to be a part of changing our food system. We’re gearing up for a public launch and are excited to bring on a Head of Marketing and Growth who will be responsible for user acquisition and the increased engagement of the Foodstand community. In this key position with the founders of Foodstand, you will to own the end-to-end marketing for this new digital community and play an integral role in further building out the team.
Responsibilities

Audience growth
- With the launch of Foodstand, You will help shape the strategy and lead execution for NY and establish a playbook for other market launches
- Test and roll out digital acquisition tactics and campaigns, both traditional and non-traditional, working closely with the development team on growth hacks
- Curate offline activities by supporting the growth of our existing suite of offline activities, scaling their execution, and exploring additional ways to bring Foodstand to life in the real world
- Develop unique partnerships focused on distribution and content

Audience engagement
- Develop and launch campaigns and communications across all channels
- Monitor engagement metrics
- Co-design any engagement-driving features with our development team
- Act as a steward for the brand
- 5+ years in food marketing / digital acquisition / content marketing
- Proven track record in consumer-facing digital and offline acquisition
- Strong digital marketing expertise across all channels, including email, social media
- SEO, alternative paid media, branded content, and nontraditional media
- Analytical approach and skills with proven capacity to measure activities and goals
- Fluent in Excel and CRM systems
- Experience leading acquisition efforts for another consumer-facing brand, product, service, or publisher where you were able to grow the audience from X to Y
- Maniacally focused on optimization
- Creative storytelling ability
- Professional experience in “good food,” e.g. farming, hospitality, restaurants, distribution, or food media
- Proven track-record cultivating relationships and crafting partnerships to unlock exponential value
- Experience building and launching a successful content and communication strategy for consumer-facing publisher or brand
- Savvy, snappy writing skills
- Passion for food
- Knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of the food system
- Start-up experience preferred
- Brand steward experience
- Superb interpersonal and networking skills. You love talking to people, hosting events, and building meaningful connections.
