Job description

Natural Gourmet Institute, the world leader in health-supportive culinary education since 1977, is looking for a new chief executive. The Natural Gourmet Institute and the Natural Gourmet Cookery School are for-profit, NYC-based schools, offering both an accredited professional Chef's Training Program (CTP) and a wide range of recreational and public classes.

  • is a true leader, someone who can get buy-in from a team and generate and maintain enthusiasm while still enforcing accountability
  • is an excellent business manager, and will uphold and/or further develop NGI's operational systems, processes, and financial management
  • has a profound skill in business development, growth, promotion, partnerships, etc., and
  • is deeply and authentically aligned with the philosophy of NGI.
The position is general charge of the entire business of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health and the Natural Gourmet Cookery School, consistent with the vision and philosophy of our Founder, Annemarie Colbin.

Responsibilities:
  • With the Board of Directors, design and execute the strategic planning process
  • Take accountability for financial performance, including management of expenses and revenue growth
  • Leverage existing resources and infrastructure for long-term growth and success
  • Contribute to the strengthening of a national brand presence
  • Ensure that NGI employees grow and thrive with us
  • Build partnerships, affiliates, channels to market and potential alliances with other businesses and institutions in our market
  • Ensure compliance with all accreditation standards, financial covenants, and other obligations and commitments of NGI
Qualifications
The CEO will be thoroughly committed to the mission of the Natural Gourmet Institute Group, with a deep understanding of NGI and its philosophies. The candidate should have proven leadership, coaching and relationship management experience at the senior level. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include: 
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum, advanced degree (MBA/Ph.D. preferred) and at least 10 years of senior level management experience
  • Excellence in organizational management: setting and achieving strategic objectives, financial management, and developing high-performance teams
  • Collaborative leader with the ability and willingness to take strong stands when necessary
  • Demonstrable experience developing and executing successful long-term commercial strategies
  • Marketing, public relations, and resource deployment experience in an entrepreneurial environment with ability to engage a wide range of affiliates and stakeholders
  • Tech savvy, with an ability to analyze and oversee digital strategy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Action-oriented, self-directed, entrepreneurial, adaptable sensibility that underlies an innovative, mission-driven approach to business planning
