Job description
Riverbank Farm is a twenty four year old certified organic vegetable and cut flower farm operating along the beautiful Shepaug river in Roxbury CT. We grow a full variety of seasonal vegetables sold at farmers markets, restaurants and natural food stores. On our farm we have a commercial kitchen where we prepare vegetarian, dips, pestos, salads, lacto fermented foods and canned goods to sell at local farmers markets throughout the year.
We have an open position that we need to fill in the next few weeks. The farm kitchen apprentice will learn all aspects of running our farm kitchen and spend time in the fields learning how the produce in the kitchen is grown and harvested. The kitchen apprentice would primarily be in charge of canning and lacto fermenting, along with assisting the main kitchen chef in all aspects of producing delicious seasonal food.
This is a full time position.
The ideal candidate would be highly self motivated, have some kitchen experience, and be ready to work hard through the busy farm season. Canning and fermenting experience is a plus, but not required.
Work hours would be Monday through Friday, along with some Saturdays. This position starts the beginning of June and runs through October. End date is negotiable. We have housing in town and offer minimum wage.
