Moving to Portland? Pok Pok is seeking a solid floor manager. We are an extremely busy, unorthodox establishment with a James Beard Award winning chef and national recognition as one of the best restaurants in the Pacific Northwest and a pioneer in bringing specific regional Thai food to the table in the USA. This is a challenging job; it's hard and fast work with a lot of systems and language to learn, an unusual restaurant configuration and menu of generally unfamiliar foods and flavors. This position requires 3-5 years experience in restaurant management in a quality environment. Candidates should be in possession of a cool head, attention to detail, a keen sense of urgency, an old school work ethic and the ability to have fun in the midst of mayhem. Like I said, it's unorthodox. The learning curve is steep, but the crew is great and the product is worthy of its notoriety. In short, you go home at night knowing you are part of a good thing. We are a growing company and are seeking good folks who want to grow with us. As such, you must be interested in what we do: we aren't farm-to-table, we aren't fine dining, we don't sell much wine and aren't wanting to. What we do well is very high quality regional Thai and a smattering of other Southeast Asian dishes prepared by hand to the highest standards, served in a fast paced environment with top notch casual, but professional, service.
