Remarkable and unique opportunity on Maine coast for responsible couple. Live at Forest Farm, historic homestead of “Living the Good Life” authors Helen and Scott Nearing, on spectacular Cape Rosier peninsula overlooking Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Located near Blue Hill and the Deer Isles, galleries, restaurants, beautiful public beaches, biking, kayaking, sailing, hiking and Acadia National Park.
Responsibilities include caring for Nearing’s small organic vegetable garden, light maintenance, welcoming visitors, providing tours, introducing educational programs. Simply furnished wood heated resident apartment provided along with modest stipend, garden vegetables, and special access to the Nearing Library, and opportunity to meet like-minded people from around the world.
You will receive support and supervision from the Site Manager. The season is Memorial Day through Columbus Day, it requires 25 hours’ work per week per person, two days off per week. Applicants must be nonsmokers, have hands-on gardening experience, and capability to commit to full season. Vegetarian meals while on grounds. No pets. Knowledge of the Nearing’s writings and philosophy a plus.
