Local Foods is Chicago’s first wholesale distributor and retailer of strictly local foods from the Midwest’s best farmers. We source and deliver the finest farm foods to consumers, restaurants, grocers, schools and institutions. Through our one-of-a-kind Bucktown processing facility, event space and retail store, we bring the stories of producers to life. We started Local Foods to simplify the way Midwestern farmers’ products are brought to market, and to make the best tasting local foods easy and accessible.Title: Events and Education Coordinator
Job Duties:
The Events and Education Coordinator is responsible for all events in Local Foods soon-to-be- complete event space. The coordinator will develop and execute an events strategy that supports educational and sales goals across wholesale, retail and event businesses. This individual will also lead the storytelling efforts throughout these events, creatively highlighting the story behind the farm and products. Events range from producer / chef events and pop-up dinners to kitchen and event space rentals. This is an opportunity for a creative and thoughtful contributor to build and manage an events program with a one-of-a-kind organization. The role will be part-time through early spring of 2015, and then become a full-time role.
Responsibilities also include:
1. Manage events strategy and overall events revenue goals and expenses
2. Work closely with marketing personnel to build content database and lead storytelling efforts through events
3. Manage event calendar and billing
4. Seamlessly work across wholesale, retail, and meat processing businesses
5. Coordinate with internal and external customers in a professional, error-free and timely manner
6. Steward customer event experience
7. Work closely with retail store manager, wholesale team, and kitchen team to execute events
Requirements:
1. 4 yr. college degree or equivalent work experience
2. Prior experience in event planning and marketing preferred
3. Enthusiasm and interest in working in a fast-paced start-up company culture
4. Comfortable and agile with technology and web environments
5. Strong knowledge of and passion for food
6. Attentive to detail
7. Able to build strong stakeholder relationships
