Elmhurst Academy is a private, independent Reggio Emilia inspired early childhood school, educating children from, birth through kindergarten.

We are currently seeking an experienced head chef to join the team at Elmhurst Academy. Our program features made from scratch seasonal organic lunches served on-site at our school. We feed the entire school community of students between the ages of 12 months through six years of age, as well as the faculty. We’re looking for a chef who is passionate and knowledgeable about sustainable food choices, and has an interest in how children are eating in school, gardening, as well as a desire to be an active, engaged member of the school community.

This position is responsible for carrying out the Elmhurst Academy Food Program on a daily basis and reports to the Assistant Director. Duties include menu planning, cooking, kitchen oversight, inventory management, budget planning and facilitating the daily food service. The other large component of the position is to serve as an approachable figure in our kitchens for the school community. This position also involves school caterings for special events. A good candidate for this position enjoys working in a fast paced kitchen with fresh ingredients, and values being part of a community, working with children, and being of service. The person in this position will also perform well as part of a team and is able to direct a team in a professional and kind manner. Prior experience and Food Sanitation License required.

This is a full time position and the salary range is $34,000 - $36,000. Additional Benefit Package included.
