Job description
The Hawthorne Valley Farm Place Based Learning Center is seeking a full time farm-based educator to help implement the day-to-day operations of our residential and day programs and our summer camps for children 7-15 years of age. During the summer months this colleague will also assist the Camp Director in ensuring smooth operations of our 8 week summer camp programs.
Responsibilities include:

Carrying out specific place-based residential /day farm and nature activities such as doing animal chores, cooking and gardening, taking nature hikes, working with traditional crafts, forestry and woodworking.

Helping in efforts to create, promote, develop, and execute new programs.

During the summer months, (June through August) acting as one of two Camp Managers and works directly under the Director of Summer Camps to implement all aspects of either the House or Field Residential Summer Camps.
Qualifications include:

Undergraduate degree, with a minimum of 3 years of educator experience in the field of residential farm and nature education and/or outdoor education;

knowledge of or background in Biodynamic Agriculture and Waldorf Education.
Compensation is $32,000 per year including health and life insurance package, pension plan, paid vacation, holidays, personal and sick leave.
Hours: Roughly 9 working hours per day/45-50 hours per week. Some weekend work is expected.
