Wild Food Walk Leaders  

forageSF is expanding and looking for a new wild food adventure leaders! This is a great opportunity for someone with a deep knowledge and excitement for wild foods to use their skills to educate excited adult students.

forageSF is a community in San Francisco with a focus on wild edibles. From wild food walks to dinners focused on wild foods. We connect students and diners to their environment through the edible plants all around us.  

We’re looking for guides in:  

-Wild Edible Plants
-Seaweeds
-Seafood  

Details:  

-Teachers must be very personable and have a passion for nature and education  

-Previous experience with teaching, as well as a degree in botany are a plus, but not required. If you are a self taught lover of wild foods you should definitely still apply.  

-Classes are 2-4 hours and pay varies per class type.  

-Wild greens  classes need to be in SF and The East Bay, and easily accessible by public transportation. Seaweed classes can be as far as 50 miles from SF.  

-Teachers must be very familiar with all local plants and animals (as applicable), and must choose their own  locations for the walks. You need to be the kind of person that can point to a plant and know if it’s edible, what it’s history is, and what the native Americans used it for medicinally. Basically we’re saying that deep knowledge and experience is very important.  

-Positive attitude and love of the environment: At forageSF we believe that educating the public about foraging creates more passionate stewards of the land, which can only help the environment.  It’s important you agree with that philosophy for us to work together.
