About the Farm:
The Dartmouth Organic Farm is an educational and working facility located approximately 3 miles north of the College campus on Rte 10 and is part of the Dartmouth Outing Club.
The farm provides members of the Dartmouth community opportunities for:

Position Description:
Position Purpose:
-
Assist with research of Professor Kapuscinski and her team, particularly on integrated food-energy systems.
-
Provide administrative support and organization for Kapuscinski lab group including assistance with planning and establishing a new research facility at the Dartmouth Organic Farm.

Manage Professor Kapuscinski’s calendar and travel.

Assist Professor Kapuscinski with management of sustainability education events and communications, including the Sustainability Solutions Café speaker series.
Skills & Knowledge:

Strong communication skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills and able to work independently.

Eager to do physically demanding labor in an agricultural setting.

Sufficient knowledge of inorganic chemistry to manage water quality in an integrated aquaculture-agriculture system.
Minimum Experience:
-
Some knowledge of the systems and operations within Dartmouth College is preferred.

Preferably has experience working with IFES or integrated aquaculture; or with care of farm animals and crops.
Minimum Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree.
-
Preferable to have course work or other educational training relevant to sustainable systems.
Key Accountabilities:
-
Support the Kapuscinski lab group research in integrated food-energy systems (IFES), particularly maintaining research animals during experiments, maintaining lab equipment on campus and at the Dartmouth Organic Farm, and taking an active role in coordination logistics for research activities.

Periodically assist with grant proposal preparation.Take the lead in managing Professor Kapuscinski’s calendar and organizing various meetings, including those of the IFES research team.

Regularly communicate with students, faculty, staff, and other external parties.

Must interact well with a diversity of people.

Organize, advertise and implement events and meetings associated with the sustainability minor: Sustainability Solutions Café, sustainability education meet and greets, co-sponsored speaker events, faculty working group meetings.

Keep the sustainability minor and Kapuscinski lab websites updated with photos and information.

Order research supplies and equipment.

Must have a means (or willing to take the AT) to commute to Dartmouth Organic Farm daily, including weekends.

Help set-up and run experiments with microalgae and tilapia.

Feed fish on weekends and holidays.
Schedule: M-F 8:
00am-5:
00pm, Sat/Sun/Holidays as needed for fish care.
This position is a 12-month term position.
