Job description
Marylhurst University seeks to fill a full-time position to develop and provide academic leadership for a new Master of Arts in Food Policy and Culture. This position is an opportunity to create an interdisciplinary food studies program in the Portland, Oregon area, a region known for its interest in gastronomy, sustainability and local food issues. The vision for the program is to integrate academic excellence with applied research in the community through vital on-campus and online coursework. Marylhurst stresses collaboration among its academic programs and the successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to create a signature program within the context of the University’s academic strengths.The successful candidate must have a terminal degree in their discipline and be qualified to teach graduate level courses. The position involves curriculum development, teaching, and administering the program. The University expects the new chair to take a leadership role in regional food policy issues.
The deadline for application submissions is 5:00 p.m., Monday, May 16th. The position begins fall quarter of 2011 with the first cohort of students starting the following year.
