Job description
Paid garden assistant position to help garden manager in growing, maintaining, and harvesting edible and ornamental garden for Roberta’s Restaurant. At least one year experience in harvesting, natural pest management, watering, and general garden maintenance is preferred but not required.
The best applicants will be passionate workers as well as great team players who are good at completing weekly tasks, like harvesting and watering, as well as working on creative new projects.
Applicants need to be able to:

Work outdoors in all types of conditions, rain or shine.

Lift forty pounds safely.

Complete administrative tasks like garden organization and data entry.

Enjoy their tasks while working with a sense of urgency.

Take direction well and be able to work independently.

Feel comfortable communicating with restaurant staff and guests about the garden, as well as be open to the potential of assisting in garden tours.
Applicants with minor carpentry skills are preferred but not required.
Opening is for a part time position, 10 hours a week, to be completed within two days. Must be available on weekends and have flexible schedules.This is a paid position. Lunch will be provided.
Roberta’s Garden is located at Roberta’s Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. It is a multi use space that supplies both Roberta’s restaurant and Blanca restaurant with freshly harvested fruits and vegetables using organic practices. One of the main goals of the garden is to educate garden assistants, the restaurant’s staff, and guests about urban gardening, growing food sustainably, and seasonal vegetables.
