Class and Event Culinary Assistant
The Mission of the Brooklyn Kitchen Education program is to provide cooking and instruction to home cooks as well as curious professionals. We are a recreational cooking school focused on teaching the home cook. Students are taught basic cooking
techniques and how to find confidence in the kitchen especially when working with new ingredients and skills. We are excited to work together with you in the kitchen: expanding our knowledge, making something delicious, and having a good time.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing recipes, and shopping lists for cooking classes and events.
- Ordering and purchasing all necessary class/ event ingredients
- Assisting with cooking classes: working directly with chef instructors in the kitchen classroom.
- Assisting with public and private events working directly with chef’s and/or presenters.
- Oversee assistants and volunteers for cooking classes. - Organizing ingredients used in class recipes before and after class.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of both Kitchen Labs.
- Daily redistribution of equipment and maintenance of Kitchen Labs.
- Create weekly recipe cards from house recipe database. - Perform Cash wrap duties when needed.
- Become familiar with the kitchen equipment used in class and sold on the sales floor to better assist customers with purchases.
Requirements:
- 1 year related experience (being a BKK class volunteer counts)
- An interest in food and cooking
- A passion for learning and customer service
- Ability to lift and carry 50lbs
- Ability to stand for a full 8hr shift
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Punctuality and reliability
We are looking for a full-time sales associate for our Hell’s Kitchen location. Individuals must be ready to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
