Sustainable Seed Co. is an organic seed farm located in GMO-free Mendocino County, CA. Our home town is Covelo, in Round Valley, a relatively remote and spectacularly beautiful area of Northern California. Mendocino National Forest is in our backyard, affording thousands of acres of hiking as well as camping, hunting, fishing and foraging. Covelo is a small, can-do town that rallies around topics of interest, be it our relatively new library and community center, our local radio station or our monthly Sustainability movie series.

At Sustainable Seed Co., we’re committed to the cultivation and preservation of heirloom seeds. We sell over 1,650 varieties of seeds, 30% of which we personally grow. What’s not grown on site is sourced from American farmers, families and seed houses that share our commitment to sustainable, GMO-free agriculture. As our name implies, we operate in a sustainable manner, with a Green Initiative that sets the standard in the Seed Industry. We’re also committed to the cultivation of our team and contributing to food culture.

SSC is experiencing significant growth and we’re looking for a few foodie-farmers/gardeners to help us maintain our momentum. We’re seeking additional firepower in both seed sales and seed production capacities (in reality, we all do some of both). A day in the life involves a range of indoor and outdoor activities: animal care, field and greenhouse work, seed cleaning, processing seed orders and customer service.

Bulk Seed Specialist Position

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

• Physical & electronic management of seed inventory 
• Seed germination management 
• Bulk order processing 
• Resolve customer service issues via phone and computer Answer customer questions at a small farm and garden level 
• Seed purchasing support 
• Assist Farm Manager with production from seed to seed General warehouse cleaning & maintenance 
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds   

Seed Specialist Position

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Process orders, pack seeds and ship orders 
• Receive & stock products & supplies 
• Resolve customer service issues via phone and computer Answering customer questions at a small farm and garden level 
• Assist Farm Manager with production from seed to seed General warehouse cleaning & maintenance
