Built in 1962 and moved to the Catskills in the early 80s, the Phoenicia Diner has a long history of serving customers who are drawn to the Catskill’s natural beauty. Current owner, Mike Cioffi, continues the tradition by offering residents, weekenders and visitors fresh food sourced from Catskills and Hudson Valley farms when available. Our menu is carefully crafted to offer traditional diner favorites, sometimes with a modern twist, using seasonal and local fresh ingredients.

The Specifics:
Direct FOH staff in entirety during designated shifts.
* Determine staff needs, issues, and direct conflict resolution as needed during service.Responsibility for FOH-based finances including
* Closing of shift monies and business day when applicable, and all change, cash and drawer discrepancies. Ultimate responsibility for financial accuracy of each service, including support staff mistakes
* Weekly bank runs and errandsCreate and maintain FOH schedule
* Collaboration in hiring, firing, and training of FOH staff w/ Owner. Train all new FOH hires with appropriate facilities tour and job training specific to their role
* Maintenance and updating of FOH training materials
* Employee manual input, opening/closing/sidework docs
* Communication between FOH staff and Owner
* Act as FOH representative for all mgmt. decisions
* Insure full and complete training on food & bar for new staff.
* Communicate supply and equipment needs to Owner, and when appropriate, purchase smallwares and supplies directly.

Collaborate w/Owner for effective FOH communication and establishment of service standards
* Menu maintenance, formatting, printing
* Recognize areas of need and fill gaps in any areas during service
* Liaise between FOH and Chef & BOH, troubleshoot between kitchen and floor
* Conflict resolution with customers, vendors, etc.
* Act as the face of the restaurant in Owner’s absence

Full POS maintenance and oversight
* Assist with staff training on POS.
* In-house marketing/specials: chalkboards, letterboards, announcements, etc. In the presence of Owner & Operator, you will collaborate in all of the above as determined by the owner. In the owners absence, you are to act in his stead for all responsibilities, yet communicate a full report of each service.

Hours and Pay:
We consider this to be a full time job of roughly 40 hours per week consisting of 4-6 FOH shifts plus any necessary administration time. Hours and days to be discussed but must include weekend and some weekday hours
