Deep Cove Brewers & Distillers is a brewery/distillery being led by an experienced team based out of North Vancouver, BC. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual, with the drive and passion to excel, to join our brewery/distillery site in North Vancouver as our HEAD DISTILLER. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated and hard working individual who has the leadership and social skills to help shape the future direction of our company.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the performance of the distilling process
- Contributes to the identification of improvement plans as reviewed during the daily, weekly and monthly meetings processes
- Team management
- Carries out trouble shooting with maintenance department to issue root cause correction, identifies and executes proper process adjustments when required
- A comprehensive knowledge and passion for spirits.
- Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced brewery/distillery production environment.
- Flexibility, results oriented mindset and a good attitude are essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to educate staff in the distilling process, and spirit styles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet development and tracking.
- Ability to accurately record inventory and understand/monitor cost control numbers.
- Must have the upmost attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and within a brewery/distillery team.
- Full availability throughout week to include some nights/weekends
- Basic knowledge of proper chemical handling / safety.
- Personable and able to interact with customersÂ
- Ability to record all distillery operations information accurately and legibly.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, climb steep stairs repeatedly, crouch and work in tight spaces.
- Willingness to be frequently exposed to wet conditions and work in extreme cold or hot conditions.
- Willingness / ability to work safely with chemicals.
- Ability to work in a moderate noise level.
- Degree in Chemistry, Micro Biology, or Engineering is a plus.
- Brewing knowledge and interest is a plus.
- Production distilling experience.
- Technical knowledge in all applicable aspects of the distilling process.
- Packaging – strong knowledge of bottling.
- Strong background in sanitation is a must.
- Strong mechanical understanding and background.
Highly competitive - based on experience.
