Good Food Awards Call for Entries

  • Date Posted June 29, 2013
  • Location San Francisco, CA
  • Category Culinary / Production
  • Job type Other

Job description

Calling all beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles, preserves, spirits, confections, and, new this year, oil crafters! We invite you to take part in this national initiative to recognize excellence in taste and sustainability by submitting your products to the Good Food Awards. The catch: All products must reflect a commitment to environmental responsibility, social justice, and culinary traditions old or new.

Enter your Good Food online between July 1 and July 31 HERE, and find more information on criteria for eligibility, the Awards, and more at the Good Food Awards website.

Alice Waters, Nell Newman, and many food movement leaders come together as judges and stand at the ready to taste your Good Food. All winners will be honored at a gala awards ceremony with Alice Waters, invited to sell their wares at the 15,000 person Good Food Awards Marketplace in San Francisco’s iconic Ferry Building, and can proudly display the Good Food Awards Seal all year long. Last year’s 114 winners also received some unexpected perks – from special placement in Whole Foods Markets, Williams Sonoma stores as well as with independent grocers Bi-Rite Market and Formaggio Kitchen, to media coverage in the San Francisco Chronicle, Atlantic Monthly, Washington Post and New York Times.

With new business opportunities and national visibility directed at the Good Food Award winners each year, businesses report significant sales increases—in two particularly successful cases, winners reported increases of 400%. Since its inception three years ago, the Awards have grown 40% annually and we anticipate 2000 entries and representation from all fifty states this year. A new partnership with Slow Food USA promises to support this growth and speaks to shared values of promoting Good Food

In further Good Food news, the awards have responded to the desire from Good Food businesses to be distinguished and united based on their values with a new sort of trade association, the Good Food Merchants Guild. Led by values of transparency, innovation and responsible production, the Merchants Guild is at the frontier of America’s food movement, uniting, distinguishing and connecting Good Food businesses across the country.  Charter members joining in August will receive one free entry into the Good Food Awards. Learn more about the Guild and join HERE.
